# Pushback Rack in Los Angeles, CA

For Los Angeles warehouses, pushback rack planning starts with what must remain accessible while inventory moves. Two to six pallets deep from one aisle, without giving up much reach. We compare the system with your stock quantities, handling equipment and receiving workload before recommending a layout. Our service territory includes the South Bay, Long Beach, Vernon and Commerce, plus Inland Empire distribution buildings. You get a Free Design Consultation, a drawing and an itemized scope, with access, load capacity and installation requirements discussed before you commit.

Pushback rack answers one specific question: what if you're losing pallet positions to aisles you don't need for every SKU? Pallets ride nested carts on inclined rails, two to six deep in a single lane, and the driver loads and unloads from one aisle only - the newest pallet in pushes the row back, gravity feeds the next one forward on the way out.

It's built for medium-velocity SKUs where you're carrying several pallets of the same item at once. Compared to selective rack, you give up direct access to every pallet in exchange for real density; compared to drive-in, you keep the truck out of the structure and get a faster, gentler cycle. Where pushback loses is strict rotation - it runs LIFO by lane, not FIFO by pallet.

## Why Los Angeles Warehouses Work With Us

Street access, receiving space and older building columns deserve a separate review in Los Angeles. We plan around the Alameda freight corridor without assuming that every site has a trailer yard, modern clear height or room to stage a full delivery inside.

Pushback is a reserve-storage decision, not a substitute for every selective row. We compare the pallets normally held per SKU with the lanes available, then show what happens to accessible faces when two-deep storage becomes four-deep. Your replenishment workload belongs in that comparison alongside the position count. For apparel distribution, food distribution, e-commerce fulfillment in Los Angeles, that means discussing the actual receiving and dispatch workload before recommending a storage block.

As part of Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co., we give your Los Angeles team one contact for layout questions, itemized pricing and installation planning. Loads, clear height and handling routes are considered with the proposed configuration. We explain the scope, access assumptions and approval steps before you choose a schedule, and retain the layout for later additions of new rack.

## How Pushback Rack Works

1

### Loading from the aisle

The driver sets the first pallet on the front cart. Each pallet added after that pushes the cart train deeper into the lane, so one aisle handles the whole depth.

2

### Carts nested on rails

Steel carts with nylon or steel wheels ride inclined rails, each nesting under the one ahead of it - that nesting is what makes multi-deep storage possible from a single face.

3

### Retrieval by gravity

Pull the front pallet and the next cart rolls forward on the incline to the pick face. No driving into the lane, no repositioning pallets by hand.

4

### Last in, first out

Each lane runs LIFO. That suits fast-turning product and any operation managing rotation by lane rather than by individual pallet date.

## Where It Fits Best

Two to six pallets of the same SKU stacked in one lane

Cold storage or leased space where rent per square foot is steep

Operations trimming aisle count to add positions

Beverage, packaging, and consumer goods runs

Buildings with clear height to spare but limited floor

## What We Need to Design It

- How many pallets of the same SKU do you typically hold at once?
- What's the pallet footprint, and is there overhang?
- What's the heaviest pallet going into a lane?
- What's the clear ceiling height or your forklift's max lift height?
- How wide are the aisles you're working with today?

## What a Project Includes

Pushback layouts are built around the pallet, not the building. We start by confirming pallet type, footprint, overhang, and load weight, because cart spacing and rail incline follow that profile rather than a generic 48x40 assumption.

Next we set lane depth. Deeper lanes store more, but only pay off if you actually carry that many pallets per SKU - so we compare a two-deep and a four-deep version of the same footprint and show what each does to total positions and to how many pick faces you're left with.

The quote covers frames, beams, rails, carts, and guarding, itemized so you can see exactly what the added density costs per position - the number that matters more than the sticker price. Rails and carts are set and tested at installation, and cart travel is verified in every lane before handover.

You end up with a CAD drawing, capacity ratings, a system drivers pick up in a shift, and a contact for planning additional new rack as your storage needs change.

The CAD layout shows the storage arrangement, access routes, level elevations and rated configuration. Your itemized quote separates new system components, guarding, freight and installation, so you can compare alternatives rather than judging a lump sum. We confirm capacities for the final beam heights and load profiles before finalizing the layout.

Once the plan and access conditions are agreed, delivery and installation are sequenced around the work zones available. Experienced installation crews we schedule and manage set the system anchored to the floor and align it to the agreed scope, with loaded travel checks for moving lanes and case tests for carton flow. Your team receives capacity information and a final layout, plus clear loading and replenishment expectations. Later additions are reviewed against that configuration instead of assuming unused height can always take another level.

Counterbalance trucks commonly need about 12–13 ft, reach trucks about 8–10 ft, and very-narrow-aisle equipment about 5–6 ft. Confirm the working clearance with your actual truck specifications. Aisle width has a major effect on storage density, so we compare it in the CAD layout."
